SITUATION REPORT

The football team is genuinely humming — zero drama, elite recruiting, three preseason All-Americans, and legitimate title-game talk has the fanbase just waiting for the inevitable chaos because that's what Notre Dame does. The defense is sharp, the O-line is developing, and Leonard Moore is a consensus monster, but everyone knows the scheduling gods are coming. Meanwhile, hoops pulled off the rare portal W with a 4-star transfer and got a random Stephen A. Smith visit that either means something or is pure mid-summer noise nobody will remember by October.

Joel Klatt: "I cannot contain my excitement for CJ Carr at Notre Dame. I think CJ Carr is incredibly talented. This is going to be a different style of Notre Dame offense this year. "What people fail to realize is how explosive [Notre Dame was], and can be this year, offensively throwing the football. They averaged over 40 points last year, 42 to be exact. "Carr got a bunch of experience a year ago. They got a chip on their shoulder after not being in the playoff. This is an offense that's going

Bloody hell GR...why do you have to put this evil out into the interwebs "Unless CJ Carr goes down with a season ending injury during Fall Camp" Now I have to go sacrifice a chicken...g-dammit.

wait so we're playing 3 ranked teams and we think our schedule is crap? There are Big 10 teams who don't see 3 ranked teams all year. side note ESPN has an article up "CFB's 40 most important players" and CJ didn't make the cut even though they listed 46 dudes, ha. (Moore and Gray are on there)

If you retain Cignetti for a long time, then yes. I believe this. But the day Cignetti leaves Indiana, it'll be just like when Jim Harbaugh left Stanford. IU will slowly slide back down into mediocrity, because no other coach who comes to Indy will be nearly as good as Cignetti.

Depth chart and injury questions will certainly be important. I am interested to see if Junior is mentioned as he can now (in theory) come back, even if it is to have a veteran in the locker room and/or depth. I am interested to see how the depth chart for the RB, WR, and TE go.

Has any Power 4 team scheduled annual games against a FCS team? It's just that I can't shake the feeling that Cignetti is looking at Indiana State for more than two games in four years (2027, 2030). The only Miami he knows is in Ohio (2028). Delaware (2030) just joined the FBS last year. UMass? UConn? The Irish have USC. One can only imagine what a full schedule would look like if Indiana was independent. Indiana has not played any Power 4 opponents in non-conference play - nor has any scheduled
