SITUATION REPORT

Knoxville's in full August copium mode—five sold-out home games, a generational defensive end, and a QB battle that's supposedly *the* answer. Meanwhile, the men's basketball team is watching guards vanish into the portal and land at conference rivals, turning what should be a destination program into a revolving door. Lady Vols are thriving and legends are getting their flowers, but the men's side is the real problem: Tennessee's apparently the pit stop, not the destination.

Develop them all in training camp. Bishop is not immortal. Every running play, every running play, is a potential touch down. Go Vols. De'Rail Sims can do more than recruit. Bust 'em out. Make the DB coverage draw in tight and vulnerable to our WRs.

Probably the most vital the running game has been since Heupel has been here. Not worried whatsoever about it. But you may see some more stacked boxes and 1-on-1 presses to test a freshman QB. Taking advantage will be a big key.

I like our chances against Furman and Kennesaw State. I can't put any SEC team in the guaranteed win column. GaTech was in the SEC. On the other hand, freshmen can do wonders and every year in D1 there are a bunch of over-achievers. If one of them is our Vol QB we have the horses to win ten games. We majorly do. That would be a stellar season. I'm all for it. Go Vols.

Fermin plus or minus, Barnes has a Grown-Man team for 26-27 that should score at will and defend with muscle. Coach must wear some special scent that currently appeals to very good basketball players looking for a concluding spot. This will be an interesting season. Game day Programs need pictures and histories. Go Vol Hoopers. Win 'em all.

Receivers: Nobody locked in. Play 'em all. Cream rises to the top - lotsa cream. What a great position room. Passers: Who can read fast, who can unload, who can lead fast receivers in stride? Maybe run some but better to use TEs as outlets and battering rams. More fun. And RBs aplenty. Are we a West Coast Offense for 2026? Should be an interesting season. And I'm counting on the New Defense to play lights out. Go Vols.
